Parade of Flags in Paradise, CA
Memorial Day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some it means 3 days off from work. For others, it’s simply spending an extra day with the family. For many more it is truly a day of remembrance.
Memorial Day is always on the last Monday of May. It is a day to pay homage to our fallen soldiers and give thanks and reflect on what they do and have done for each and every one of us. It’s so easy to get busy with our day to day lives and complain about government that we sometimes forget our freedoms and how fortunate we really are. Without the men and women in the armed forces protecting these rights, I wouldn’t be typing this blog today.
11 different organizations throughout the Paradise Ridge donate their time to put 1100 or so flags along parts of the Skyway and Elliott Road. It’s a beautiful sight and very patriotic. They don’t have to do it, but they do… three times a year, Memorial Day, Veteran’s day and 4th of July. If you haven’t seen the flags yet, it’s worth the drive. The flags should be out this Memorial Day from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Weather permitting of course because we don’t want the flags to get wet.
I’ll say one more time. To all the service men and women and all the family’s who hold down the fort while their loved ones are serving our country. Thank you for all you’ve done, and all you do. My thoughts and prayers go out to you for the loved ones you’ve lost.
Ever so humble,
Cindy Haskett
