History

Since 1978, Friday Night Concerts in Downtown Chico City Plaza have become a much-loved summertime tradition. This summer event involves quality live music, community, and dancing in Downtown Chico City Plaza.

Duration

This event occurs weekly on Friday nights during summer. This year, the concerts started on May 6 and will end on October 7, 2022.

The shows begin from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. However, many people come early to enjoy dinner or drinks before the show begins.

Venue

Friday Night Concerts were initially at the Children’s Playground until the successful construction of the City Plaza. The City Plaza offers a pleasant outdoor space with a designated performance area.

Cost

The Chico Friday Night Concerts are free to attend and open to everyone. As a free event, it is great for families. The concerts also serve as a way to bring the community together.

The Downtown Chico Business Association sponsors this event.

Performers

Local bands play a wide range of musical styles at the summer concert series. There is something to please everyone, from folk, blues, and funk to classic rock, jazz, and reggae.

The concert series includes performances by Symblance, Chuck Eperson Band, Blue Egyptian, Chico Latin Orquesta, Off The Record, and Retrotones.

Other Activities

The Chico Art Center also hosts free kids’ art activities each summer from June to August. You can bring your kids to enjoy art activities before the concerts start.
